"Here come more and more...............and more feet!
Left foot. Right foot.
Feet. Feet. Feet.
Oh how many feet you meet." The Foot Book, by Dr. Seuss
Why Birkenstocks®?
Since 1774, the Birkenstock® family enterprise has been manufacturing exclusive, high quality footwear. For over 240 years, the entire knowledge of the shoemaking craft has been passed down from generation to generation with innovations and improvements along the way.
The Birkenstock® invention of a flexible secure footbed made from a heated cork and latex mixture, an ingenious idea literally "cooked up" in the 1960's, continues to receive the highest recognition from millions of people around the world. The natural arched form of the foot is mirrored in the Birkenstock® deep moulded footbed that supports and maintains the foot's anatomical and physiological functions. A layer of high density foam in the "soft" footbed gives additional cushioning, in contrast to the original "hard" footbed which gives more definite support. Extensive design and product research has created a variety of strap/upper styles and colours for different functions and foot needs, whether of leather, Birkoflor (synthetic), or textile. An ideal fit through the two width system (regular and narrow) and the optimal shaped footbed let Birkenstock® wearers enjoy the comfort of their footwear from the very first step.
