1. What is a futon?
In it's traditional form, a futon is a cotton-filled
mattress. Japanese futons were used at night and then
rolled up and stored during the day. Today, we construct
futons designed for comfort and luxury. We employ high
density and specialty foams as well as wool in some
of our models.
2. Are your futons and frames in stock?
We endeavor to keep all of the products we carry in
stock. If for some reason we are out of stock, the wait
is usually 10 - 14 days.
3. Do you deliver?
Yes! Futons For Less does deliver in the Calgary area
for a small fee. Futon furniture is ready-to-assemble,
and most frames can be transported in a minivan, pick-up
truck or SUV. A set-up service is also available.
4. Are futon frames difficult to assemble?
No! An average futon frame utilizes 10 - 12 specifically
designed bolts and threaded metal rail inserts that
ensure strength and durability. The only tools required
are a screwdriver and, in some cases, a hammer. The
detailed instructions provided are easy to follow.
5. Are futons made in standard mattress sizes?
Yes, these are: King (78" x 80"), Queen (60"
x 80"), Double / Full (54" x 75"), Single
/ Twin (39" x 75"). These sizes are standard
bed dimensions, so normal bedding will fit futon mattresses.
Custom sizes are available for a small charge.
6. How long should I expect to wait on custom orders
for futons or covers?
The average wait is 2-3 weeks for any custom order,
but fabrics constantly change and can become discontinued
from time to time.
7. What is the most common size of futon?
The double size (54" x 75") is the most popular,
but Queen, Loveseat and Chair sizes are available in
most frame styles.
8. Is futon furniture expensive?
Futons and frames vary greatly from simple bench styles
to solid oak hardwood frames, with something in every
price range.
